a Guide on how to mix metals
Long gone are the days when matching the hardware with the light fixtures was mandatory. Now mixing metals is Très Chic and adds so much warmth and interest to a room specially to Bathrooms, Powder Rooms and Kitchens.
I feel that like fashion and everything 2022, home decor is a “You do you” thing but following some guidelines will help the look come together.
Select one metal as your primary finish and with that I mean: Pick two maybe three finishes, use one as a focal point and incorporate other finishes as accents.
When in doubt pair complimentary finishes. For example: brass + bronze, or brushed gold +
nickel.Distribute metals throughout the room: Following your hierarchy of finishes, apply your chosen metals throughout the room. In a kitchen, for instance, I suggests choosing cabinet hardware in your primary finish and using the faucet to showcase your accent metal. To ensure a cohesiveness bringing in a mixed-metal light fixture or piece of furniture that combines both of your desired finishes.
Go with what you truly love but if you need guidance I’m here for you.
